College & Young Career Community
Hi all of you! I know this is a busy time of the year, but please take 1:30 to watch this video. It captures that sense of community that we are working to build in our class. I hope you have several communities that you are a part of but please make it a priority to commit some time to building relationships within FC3. There is something important about people who know you and have grown up with you (physically and spiritually) that helps keep us grounded. Please watch—it's beautifully shot!http://threadsmedia.com/about/
Speaking of building community, you should have received an invitation to our Comfort Food and Slipper Get-Together. Please RSVP and sign up to bring something to share. Should be a relaxed time of laying around watching movies and playing board games, or football if it's nice outside. It's Sunday afternoon, December 18 at 3:30. If you didn't get the e-vite or FB invite, let me know. (gigsby@nc.rr.com)
Throughout December, we'll be working through a study that we hope will help us all look at Christmas in a unique way. John and I are excited about the material for our class as we've begun working through it!
Have a great week. Try to relax a little bit and get in some quiet times this week!
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

What a week! We are all exhausted but satisfied that the trip went very well! It seems obvious to us that we were meant to be here. We seemed to work so well with the people from the Indonesian Baptist Church. They had a large group of college and young career people and they hit it off with our group.
Two of the days, the team went to ...
Tuesday's update (from Alicia Jones):
God has been so good to us here as we serve in New York City! We have been working with kind and giving people who really have a heart for their church, community and even the world (First Indonesian Baptist Church members). We've be co-laboring to put on VBS tonight and last night; each night turned out to ...
On Sunday, the day we arrived, people from the church brought three of their personal vans over to take us to the Indonesian Baptist Church which meets at Elmhurst Baptist Church in Queense. We went to eat lunch at an Indonesian noodle house just down the street from the church. Great food.
We then participated in the Sunday School which ...
We're teaching a Vacation Bible School for the Indonesian Baptist Church which meets at Elmhurst Baptist Church in Queens. Here is a picture of the church where we'll be teaching little kids about Jesus every evening, Monday through Saturday. Their parents are expected to come along too. Lot of opportunities!
Please pray for us during class and ...
We were so happy to see a bunch of the class come back from college for Spring Break last week! It was great seeing you and hearing about how your semester is going. We'd love to see more of you when you're in town. Come on in!
For the month of March, we're studying through I Peter and talking about how to prepare for tough times. We know they'...
Looks like we have 12 people who are going on our mission trip to NY City August 1-6. We’re off and running now! Alicia and Aubrey are doing a great job planning what we’ll do. If you haven’t paid your $35 down payment, please make a check out to Traci Griggs. She’s sending it in for you.
We have quite a few ...
We continued our 8-week study on Discipleship by looking at John 10 and the story about the good shepherd. We talked about the fact that there is only one gate into the sheep's pen and that the shepherd lies in front of that gate to make sure that thieves and robbers don't enter in. That correlates, among other things, to the fact that there is ...

In the college and career class this week, Aubrey gave her testimony before the class. We all tried to listen as if we were not believers. We listened for buzz words or phrases that might be confusing to a non-Christian and—very gently—asked questions that an unbeliever might ask.
...It was great to see all the out-of-town college folks in class today. I think everyone was tired from having fun over the New Year’s holiday, but you were there and that in itself can be an achievement on some days! Glad to hear that almost everyone got through Christmas without any illnesses (except for Nate—sorry about that Nate...
Here’s what we talked about in class on Sunday:
- Jesus ate and associated with people who the religious leaders thought would make him ‘unclean’. Who are the people that we ignore in our lives. Your challenge: Be more aware of those people around you that you usually don’t pay attention to.
Discipleship Study: Week 1
We began our first of eight weeks studying discipleship. Please try to do the devotions that go along with this lesson. Our class discussion will be much more fun if everyone is doing this and bringing thoughts to the class. Go to www.finditherenc.org, click on the “Spring” tab and

On November 7, we talked about the benefits of following Jesus Christ. He offers us a peace that is unlike the temporary peace the world offers. And He provides a purpose for our life. This is a great thing to explain when talking to people about why you follow Christ. You can talk about the kind of person He was when He was on

We had a great meeting this morning. People are at various stages of engaging in some kind of discipleship relationship—this is totally up to you and what you feel God is calling you to do! Some people shared about where they are and what they’re doing. We were excited to see what God is

It was an important day in our class today. After doing some brainstorming several weeks ago on possible directions for the College and Young Careers Community, the class decided to go forward with a challenge of discipleship and mentorship.
If we read the Great Commission, it says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
