One Hour with God

Welcome to your P.R.A.Y.E.R. time! If you long to know how to focus your prayer time; to make it the most powerful and productive time of your day, then this is the right resource to help you. Each letter in the word PRAYER is designed to focus your attention on an essential aspect of your prayer hour. Take 10 minutes with each letter and spend a wonderful hour with God.

Praise (10 min.)                                
Psalm 103:1 "Bless the Lord, O my soul."
When we start with praise, God's name is hallowed (Mat. 6:9)
 
- Read the Psalms out loud to the Lord.
- Call out the names of the Lord and relate how His name represents His character (Ps. 135:1).
- Praise Him for His attributes (faithful, merciful, holy, just, loving, all-powerful, etc.).
- Read Psalms 145-150.


Respond (10 Min.)                                       
Respond with Thanksgiving!
Psalm 100:4 "Be thankful to Him and bless His name"
Take time to recall God moments where you experience His blessing in your life (Ps. 136:1-3)
 
 
- Thank the Lord for how His character blesses your life.
- Thank Him for the salvation He purchased for you on the cross.
- Thank Him for your health, family, church family and daily provisions.


Acknowledge, Confess, Repent! (10min.)

Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit in me"

 
- Sin hinders fellowship with our Lord (1 John 1:67)
- Acknowledge your sin before the Lord and ask Him to search your heart (Ps. 139:23-24)
- Confess yoou sin, be specific and repent (or turn) from it completely (1 John 1:9)

Yield (10 min.)
 
Matthew 26:39 "not as I will, but as You will"

 
- Yield to the Lord you time, talent and treasure.
- Time-ask the Lord to help you use your time wisely and for kingdom purposes.
- Talent-s the Lord to use your talents and skills for His glory. Think of ways this could happen.
- Treasure-ask the Lord to use your financial resources to bless His work.

Express (10 min.)
 
Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He willgive you the desires of your heart"

- God desires you to delight in Him. When you delight in Him then you will know His heart, which will shape your desires.
- Pray for Christlikeness; pray for eternal desires, such as asking the Lord to develop the Fruit of the Spirit in you (Gal. 5:22-23). Go through each one, each day.
- Pray for greater influence for Christ (1 Chron. 4:9-10).

Request (10 min.)
 
James 5:16 "Pray for one another"

 
- Request on behalf of others; this is the ministry of intercession. This is where spiritual warfare is fought!
- Pray for your family; needs opportunities to serve, salvation, needs within, etc.
- Pray for your church family; pastor, staff, leadership, laity, ministries, missions, etc.
- Pray for your neighbors, co-workers and others to come to Christ.
- Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvest!


When you pray...
⇒ Find specific time and a solitary place (Mark 1:35).
⇒ Speak humbly, reverently honestly and confidently to our Lord (Mat. 6:5-13).
⇒ Ask God to move you with compasson for the peoples of our world (Acts 1:8) and REMEMBER...Rom. 8:26.
